Week 5: Studio Activity - Part 2

Part 2 - Constructing the Model

I began by cutting out my templates as seen below:


The first issue I encountered was my poor planning in terms of the connection flaps. I has created too many flaps that over lapped with other flaps, forgetting to create space for the flaps to connect with other walls and surfaces of the model.

I then tranced my templates on to my model material. The material I chose was a broken down 'Hahn Super Dry' beer carton as it was large enough to allow for me to use the same material to construct the entire model.


Here, you can see how I amended my templates to create better connection points to glue together each surface.

Another amendment I made to my template was for my window. As the template just started out as a single outline to represent the window frame, I added in the four specific windows to add detail and accuracy to my model. I also used hatching as a technique to demonstrate solid structure vs what needed to be cut out.
